My 3 Year Blender Progression - Learnings and Tips

Hey everyone! It's been a while since I did a sort of reflection on my Blender learning journey. Learning Blender has been a huge part of my channel! Since it’s the start of the new year, I wanted to recap all of my learning up until this point to reflect on where I am now and where I can go in the future.

To summarize, the first 45 days were focused on exploring the Blender interface and learning the basics of 3D. Again, 3D was a new medium I wanted to learn, having been a traditional digital designer for the majority of my creative career. After that, I pursued the projects and art style I was interested in, which was non-photorealistic rendering. Then, I combined that with grease pencil, which is a tool in Blender 3D that allows drawing and animating 2D in 3D space.

This is where my learning started to really take off because I was having lots of fun experimenting and realizing ideas I had in my head. I played around with animation and started creating more cinematic sequences. Unfortunately, I did encounter some roadblocks along the way and had to pause some of the learning. I did pick it back up in Year 3 and resumed my progress. However, after 3 years, I feel like I needed a goal or something to work towards. Keeping this in mind for the future, I’m looking forward to the pieces I’ll make in 2024!

Thanks for the support and hope you guys enjoy!
